The making of soap and shampoo

Bismillah,

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

"Take some sesame oil, a sprinkle of potash, alkali and some lime...when cooked, pour the mixture into moulds...producing a hard soap" - Soap recipe from the 13th century

Washing and bathing are religious requirements for the Muslims, and it was the Muslims who initially developed soap by boiling and hardening a mixture of vegetable oils with al-qali (salt-like substance). In 1759 Sheikh Dean Mahomed, an Indian Muslim popularized the Indian treatment of Champi(Shampooing) in England and was appointed the Kings's Shampooing Surgeon.
