Sunnah # 19

Bismillah,

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

The sunnah for this week is not only simple but will definitely bring a smile on your face :) If you have any pets then feed them while keeping in mind that you are doing it to please Allah and to follow the sunnah of the prophet. If you don't have any pets, then lay out some bread crumbs for the birds in the garden or by the window sill. InshaAllah you will get thawaab(reward) for every bread crumb that is eaten up. :)

Narrated Suraqah ibn Ju’shum: I asked the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, about a lost camel that comes to my cisterns that I have prepared for my own camels – will I be rewarded if I give it some water to drink? He, peace be upon him, said: “Yes, in every living being there is a reward (for charity).”

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A): The Prophet (May Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said, “A man felt very thirsty while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, “This dog is suffering from thirst as I did.” So, he went down the well again and filled his shoe with water and watered it. Allah rewarded him for that deed and forgave him." The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?” He replied: “Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (living being).”

[Bukhari, Book #43, Hadith #646]

Had a street cat and her kids living in my backyard so I figured they could do with a breakfast treat ;)

Have a great week!
:)
