Discovery of coffee

Bismillah,

Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

"Coffee is the common man's gold, and like gold it brings to every person the feeling of luxury and nobility." - 15th century historian

The first record of coffee is from Yemen where Muslims would drink the brew of Ethiopian coffee beans to stay awake through the night for prayers. The drink traveled from Yemen to Makkah and Turkey through travelers and traders in the late 15th century and then to England in 1650. The Arabic "al-qahwa" became the Turkish "kahve" then the Italian "caffe" and then the English "coffee".

Good to know our history :)
